In Melissa's Kitchen - Vegan: The Cookbook
On June 28th, Melissa’s Produce welcomed chef Jean-Christian Jury to their test kitchen for the debut of his cookbook Vegan: The Cookbook. In this cookbook you will discover a wide range of accessible and appealing plant-based dishes that will excite and satisfy vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores alike.
Featuring recipes from more than 150 countries around the world, this is the ultimate kitchen companion on vegan cooking with global flavor. Whether you are vegan, vegetarian, or simply wanting to eat less meat, here are more than 450 recipes from more than 150 countries, almost all of which were visited by the author. These plant-based recipes are for starters, mains, and desserts and made with readily-available ingredients that are naturally delicious for everyone at the table. The recipes in the book represent the cuisines of France, Greece, Italy, Vietnam, China, and India and introduce us to the less familiar flavors of countries like Seychelles, Gabon, Benin, Djibouti, Timor, Moldova, New Caledonia, Suriname, and Papua New Guinea, to name just a few.
Chef Jean-Christian Jury is a world traveler and internationally acclaimed chef from Toulouse, France. While working in the restaurant world in London, he had heart failure, which he attributes to his relentless work schedule and poor diet. Heeding this wake-up call, he delved into the study of raw and vegan food and embraced a healthy diet and lifestyle. In 2007, he opened his first vegan restaurant, La Mano Verde, in Berlin, which received great critical praise. He has been preparing for the fall opening of Blue Lotus in Hua Hin, Thailand-the world's most advanced and modern plant-based vegan academy. He will serve as the Executive Chef and Guest Chefs Coordinator.
